Cytology
Cytology is the examination of stained cells on a microscope slide. It is a tool the veterinarian using for diagnosing masses. The cells are generally collected using a Fine Needle Biopsy. The veterinarian will examine the cells under the microscope. Different tissues, both normal and abnormal, have characteristics that make each type of cells readily identifiable. After identifying the type of mass the vet can recommend a treatment or surgical plan. |
